The Better Animal: A Hopeful Tale of a Future America
Exploring AI, Democracy, and More Through Speculative Fiction
- Virtual
- 12PM – 1PM EDT
In his new novel, The Better Animal, former federal prosecutor Ken Ballen provides a gripping and ultimately hopeful tale of a future America on the cusp of electing the most unusual president in its history.
The novel follows the AI-enabled campaign of a dog named Kit for president. It explores AI and the power of a newly heard voice while blending dystopian fiction themes with hope and redemption, and examining truth, corruption, and the meaning of modern leadership.
Join New America’s Future Security Program as they welcome Ken Ballen for a discussion of his new book, The Better Animal. Ballen is also the author of Terrorists in Love, and a former federal prosecutor. He served as Counsel to the House Iran-Contra Committee, Chief Counsel to the Speaker of the House, and Chief Counsel to the Senate Special Committee on Investigations.
